When Jeffrey first came to live with us, he was in pretty bad condition.  Left on the porch of our vet's office in a box on the hottest day of the year, he was covered in fleas, dirt, and mats and had to be shaved to get him clean and flea free.  Because he looked so pathetic, we decided to give him a name that would give him confidence and named him after the #1 Pekingese in the country... Jeffrey.  But they had left the hair on his head and his hairdo reminded us of Zoolander so we gave him a last name too.

With Regular meals and some loving care, the little guy just blossomed and settled in with the rest of the Bone Bandits.  Within months his coat had grown in lush and full and he had plumped up considerably.  His eyes are so dry that he is nearly blind, but he doesn't let that stand in his way.  He's about 12 or 13, and won't admit to a day older, but he's still so full of life.   Let's let him tell it.

My first day I wasn't looking my best to meet new friends.  It seems that one of my new friends is a bulldog.. and it looks like she's missing some hair too.  She sure looks surprised to see me.  I guess my new moms thought I was cold because I suddenly had shirts and coats.  Wow, my own wardrobe!  Does this come in a color other than lavender?

I also got my very own bed and I could sleep any way I wanted to in it, or out of it.
I thought I heard some snickering.  I'm sure it was the bulldog... she looked a little scared of me.

This is me with Rosie.  She's even older than I am and kinda cranky, but she sure is beautiful.
She's my role model for growing my coat.

My haircut started growing in after a couple of months and I discovered a wonderful invention: the couch!  I didn't mind sharing it with my friend, Robbie.  But I always had the feeling there was a bulldog lurking in the background.

By winter, my coat had completely grown back and I was finally beautiful again... if I do say so myself.  And I do!
Look at the plume of that tail!  Bet they didn't know I was going to be this good looking.

Notice how there's always someone around with a camera when you're doing something silly?  This was the only time I slept in one of Rosie's beds but sure enough, I was caught.

I was playing hide and seek with the cats.  I guess under the table wasn't the best place to try to hide.  Even the cats found me.  Not to mention that person of the perpetual camera.

It was pretty hot this summer, and I like to roll around in dirt and stuff, so I got a haircut.  It kept me cool and a lot easier to groom.  When I was leaving Muddy Paws a girl stopped my mom to ask "what kind of puppy is that?"  Wow!  I look like a puppy? Thanks!!  An old guy likes to hear that.
